Why we started the Coalition...

Eight years ago,
we started filming elders living with Alzheimer's Dementia.

We were shocked by what we saw-

Too many elders enter Nursing homes and quickly fade away-
Too many elders are abandoned and over-medicated-
Too many elders are seen as profit generators-

What we saw broke our hearts and angered us...

What we saw broke our hearts and angered us...

My name is Michael Rossato-Bennett and I made the film, "ALIVE INSIDE."
The film changed life for many elders with dementia- worldwide.
But I soon realized, it wasn't enough-
The top-down institutional approach, even with Music,
fails to connect people, families, the generations and to create meaningful life.

I had to do more...

TO NAVIGATE THE EMERGING FUTURE,
WE MUST RE-THINK HOW WE FIND SAFETY

TO NAVIGATE THE EMERGING FUTURE,
WE MUST RE-THINK HOW WE FIND SAFETY

I realized, the way we treat each other, the planet and our elders is interconnected!
The change needed is profound and intergenerational.
Young and old we must change the way we face life and death.

The way we face aging, commerce and even being is not sustainable.

Our relationships to life, death and the biosphere must change.

There is no other option.

To help, we created The Alive Inside Coalition to create more humanistic Elder Care.

The Coalition inspires communities to connect- intergenerationaly, musically, and relationally.
Our tool is our noncognitive wisdom: music, emotion and empathy,
gifts that have sustained us for millennia and still connect us.
AIF views Chronic Loneliness,
as an epidemic and a crime.
Loneliness as a symptom of "life-not-worth-living."
With your help we can heal this outmoded thinking.

HEAL LONELINESS
AND ALL ELSE
FALLS INTO PLACE
